Once we were here
Recording the unique memories embodied in Tasmanian trees. By working directly with tree remnants, creating rubbings of their discarded stumps, I capture the life lived of each tree. Each growth ring, reflecting the seasons, environmental and climatic events experienced, thin narrow rings reflecting hard times, wider rings the good times collectively recording the passage of time. The layering of multiple individual works, many transparent, evoke a sense of continuity, mirroring the ongoing cycle of life, growth, and renewal
